Tom Gordon, MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, has spoken out in Parliament following the tragic incident attack in the Headingley area of Leeds over the weekend. Two women were injured by a crossbow-wielding man on the famous “Otley Run”, a popular pub crawl in Leeds, on Saturday afternoon.

In the House of Commons, Tom highlighted the large student population in the Headingley area, particularly those attending Leeds Beckett University. He also referenced the large number of students of young people from Harrogate attending university in Leeds, calling on the Government and police to ensure that those across the wider area are properly reassured following the incident.

In response, the Minister said that she knew that West Yorkshire police were reaching out into the local communities to provide reassurance.

Commenting, Tom said:

“I was deeply shocked by Saturday’s dreadful and violent incident. The student population is a key group in the Headingley area, and it’s so important that they get the proper support and reassurance.

“My thoughts are with those affected. Thank you to the emergency services and all they have already done and will do to support those affected and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
