Tom Gordon, the Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough has celebrated local manufacturer EnviroVent on the floor of the House of Commons, hailing the firm as a shining example of the strength of manufacturing in Harrogate and North Yorkshire.

EnviroVent, a manufacturer and supplier of sustainable ventilation products based at Harrogate West Business Park, recently produced its three-millionth ventilation fan unit and was named one of The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work 2026.

The MP joined EnviroVent CEO and Managing Director Andy Makin for a recent tour of their new warehouse, design department and testing facility. He heard how the firm’s recent expansion provided more high-skilled jobs in the region.

Tom raised the company’s achievements in Parliament following a recent visit to its Harrogate site, where he met the team and saw production first hand. The Minister joined him in congratulating the business.

Tom said:

“EnviroVent is exactly the kind of business we should be shouting about – a homegrown Harrogate manufacturer that is supplying sustainable products across the country, hitting a three-million-unit milestone, and being recognised nationally as one of the best places to work in Britain.

“When I visited, what struck me most was the pride the team takes in what they make. That is local manufacturing at its best.”

Mr Gordon also called for greater government backing for firms like EnviroVent, arguing that manufacturers need stronger support for apprenticeships and skills if they are to keep growing and creating good local jobs.

He added:

“Industry leaders like EnviroVent do North Yorkshire proud. Their new facilities are state of the art and they’re generating highly skilled jobs in the region.

“Success stories like Envirovent don’t happen by accident – they’re built on skilled people.

“If we want more milestones like this, the Government needs to do far more to support apprenticeships and back British manufacturing, so that young people in Harrogate and Knaresborough can build careers in companies like this right on their doorstep.”
